Opal Creek Ancient Forest Center and the National Outdoor Leadership School’s Wilderness Medicine Institute have teamed up to bring you three of the most highly regarded wilderness medicine courses in the industry – taught in the heart of the ancient forest.

Seasoned WMI instructors often refer to Opal Creek as one of the premiere places to teach and practice wilderness medicine. Opal Creek’s location offers a true backcountry setting, giving participants a chance to learn new skills and brush-up on old ones in an environment similar to where these skills would be needed in real-life wilderness medical emergencies.

Earn your certification in the backcountry of the Opal Creek Wilderness with all the comforts of home. Our fully equipped cabins and lodge are an ideal backdrop to this course, offering a warm and comfortable environment to sleep and study. All meals are provided by our highly-praised kitchen.

Lodging and meals begin the evening before each WMI course and are included in the price. We do not prorate costs for those wishing to provide their own lodging and meals for the duration of the course.

Due to the remote nature of our site we regret that we are generally unable to accommodate last-minute registrations for our WMI courses. Please be sure to contact our registrar during office hours Monday, Tuesday, Thursday, or Friday, in advance of the course at (503) 892-2782.
