It’s the most wonderful time of the year–that time when you can start planning your Opal Creek trip for next season!
Our full roster of weekend workshops and summer camps is now open for registration, and we are thrilled to be offering brand-new opportunities to visit the ancient forest.
What’s New for 2018
Workshops:
- Family Workshop: A Bug’s Life – spend a late spring weekend with the whole family searching for stream insects, pollinators, and night flyers, and learn about the many important roles insects play in the ancient forest ecosystem.
- Adult Women Backpacking – a perfect opportunity for ladies who want to learn how to travel in the backcountry, or those who want to perfect their skills in a supportive and empowering environment.
- Family Workshop: Crafting with Wild Mushrooms – an autumn weekend of forest exploration and arts and crafts that’s sure to be illuminating for all ages as we explore the many ways to use wild mushrooms in simple art projects.
- Homesteading in the Jawbone Kitchen – a new volunteer opportunity that will have you working alongside our kitchen staff to learn the basics of canning fresh produce.
Expeditions:
- Summit Sisters: Extended Ladies’ Expedition – an eight-day extended trip for older female teens to gain leadership skills and build on their wilderness identity.
- Tour de Lacs: Extended Expedition – last year this trip was rerouted by the Whitewater Fire, so this year we’re coming back for another try at this extended experience in the Mt. Jefferson Wilderness.
