Ancient Forest Mushrooms

Thursday, July 16, 2020 – Saturday, July 18, 2020

Every fall the ancient forest of Opal Creek erupts with a huge variety of mushroom species. Hike through the tall trees and learn about the amazing world of mycology that holds the forest together. High and low, we’ll seek out the curious organisms that come in so many shapes and sizes and help the forest grow and decompose. Learn to identify and cook edible species, make mushroom-based dyes, and create your own hand-dyed fabrics. Suitable for mushroom hunters of all experience levels.

Taught by one of the Opal Creek watershed’s most knowledgeable ecologists, and past Opal Creek Ancient Forest Center instructor, John Villella.
