For many years, the Commissary served as a storage space. It was recently completely rebuilt and is now a fully-equipped classroom and laboratory, as well as a meeting place for staff retreats and other rental groups. Constructed using mostly salvaged lumber, powered by a 400 square-foot solar panel array, serviced by a gray water system, heated with a wood stove, and finished inside with eco-friendly flooring made from recycled tires, it is also a standing testament to the concepts of green building and sustainability. The official name of this building is the Paul G. Allen Family Foundation - Opal Creek Environmental Education Center, thanks to the Paul G. Allen Family Foundation's generous donation which made this project possible. |

The Commissary is now available to be rented as a group meeting space; please see the table below for rates. |
